Phil Hughes’ brother returns to cricket with a ’63’

Phil Hughes’ older brother Jason Hughes returned to Sydney grade cricket for the first time since the Australian opener’s death and scored 63.

Playing for Mosman, Jason scored the same score that his younger brother had scored last month before he was struck by a bouncer that led to his death.

As reported by Yahoo Australia, Jason was emotional when he walked out to bat for the first time since Phil died, and also when he reached his 50. He was caught out and was not aware of his score.

At Phil’s funeral, an emotional had said, “You have given me confidence, strength, you supported me and gave me a strong desire to succeed.”

It was an emotional day for Australian cricket as the team under Michael Clarke managed to win their first Test against India by 48 runs. It was a fitting tribute to their 13th man ‘Phil Hughes’.
