Rafael Nadal shocked by the death of Phil Hughes

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal expressed his grief on the demise of Australian cricketer Phil Hughes.

Nadal posted on Twitter, “Shocked about the news of Oz’s cricketer Phil Hughes. My thoughts with the family and the cricket fans (sic).”

Hughes, aged 25, died due to injuries which he sustained after being hit by a short ball during a Sheffield Shield match on Tuesday. The southpaw was instantly rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, however, he never regained consciousness.

The cricketing world was shocked to hear the news of Hughes’s death on Thursday, as thousands of fans took to Twitter, paying their tribute to the Australian cricketer.

Australian skipper Michael Clarke read out a statement on behalf of Hughes’s family, thanking everyone for their continuous support and love.
