Rohit Sharma’s sarcastic dig at critics

Right since his early days in Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma has been media’s favourite whipping boy. The Mumbai batsman started off well but could not do justice to his immense talent and soon went on to be trolled for his failures. The Indian team management showed enough faith in him and after numerous ODI appearance, he could finally make it big.

He happens to be one of Team India’s main man when it comes to limited-overs cricket but is yet to cement his place in the longer format of the game. Ahead of Team India’s West Indian sojourn, Rohit, who was lucky enough to find a place in the Test squad, took a dig at his critics. In an interview with Indian Express, Rohit was asked a question on being labelled as a “talented underachiever”.

What do you expect from critics and fans when a cricketer oozing with talent takes years to establish himself in limited-overs and has just managed to average in the early-20s post his two back-to-back hundreds in first two Tests? But it seems, some players just enjoy the accolades and not the criticism.
