Top Indian cricket physio Bashir Ashai accused of molesting a masseuse in a Northern Ireland hotel

Dr Aijaz Bashir Ashai, a renowned Indian cricket physio has been accused of sexually assaulting a female masseuse in n La Mon Hotel and Country House at Stormont on Tuesday.

Ashai is currently working with Nepal national cricket team. The team is playing the Twenty20 (T20) World Cup qualifying match. Dr Ashai is country’s renowned sports physiotherapists and has rendered his services to many well-known cricketers.

As reported by Belfast Telegraph, a constable revealed to the court that Ashai called for a full body massage but he chose to go for it without wearing any undergarments although he was informed not to do so. Ashai’s lawyer has accepted that his client had called for a massage but has denied of any sexual allegations whatsoever.

Ashai’s website describes him as, “an expert in the field of advanced physiotherapy. He is also a physical trainer, a personal instructor, writer and sportsman.” Dr Ashai also runs his own fitness and sports rehabilitation centre.

It has also been reported that the judge gave Dr Ashai bail for 2,500, on the condition that the Nepal team lodge a cash surety for 2,500, that he reside at there and makes no contact with witnesses. Apart from that he also has to report to police thrice a week. The matter is now adjourned to August 12.
