Video: Ajinkya Rahane bats for World Environment Day

Cricketers enjoy enormous fan following, their tally of followers is phenomenal. Fans and followers tend to follow their favourite stats footsteps and are easily drawn towards a sensitive issue by them. June 5 marks the World Environment Day and as the depleting condition of our environment is one of the major issues to be taken care of, Ajinkya Rahane appealed to the masses to plant a sapling.

Due to industrialization, deforestation and urbanization the amount of tress and natural habitat has gone for a toss. Keeping this issue in mind Rahane stepped up and addressed it to the people.

Rahane posted a video on his official Facebook account with captions which read, “Please do your bit for the Environment !”

Rahane had a terrific run after a parched patch in the ongoing Test series. Questions were raised regarding his technique in the subcontinent but he backed his instincts and came out hard in the fourth Test against South Africa at Delhi.

Rahane scored back to back centuries in the fourth Test and bailed his team out of crisis. India are well placed at the moment but South African skipper Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers have shown some great resistance on Day 4. They have to play out the full day in order to save the match as they are now batting at 72 for the loss of two wickets.
