Virender Sehwag, other Kings XI Punjab players raise voice against drug abuse

The use of drugs affects youth the most and it’s an issue all around the world. Drugs have also been one of the sternest enemies of sports where we have witnessed tragic career ends and sometimes deaths like in case of English cricketer Tom Maynard.

Drug addiction is a growing problem in the state of Punjab, ruining lives of many youths in the prosperous state, and with has brought a rise of related diseases. It is reported that among youths in Punjab, seven out of 10 take drugs.

HIV infection spreads easily when people share equipment to inject drugs. Sharing equipment also spreads hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and other serious diseases.

In a noble initiative, players of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who represent the state, have urged youngsters to ‘say no to drugs’.

The video, which features stars like Virender Sehwag and David Miller, is KXIP’s and AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s 20×20’s joint initiative to spread awareness in Punjab.
