
The friendship of Virender Sehwag and Ashish Nehra dates long back. They were in their teens when they travelled on the same scooter to practice. They went on to be stalwarts for Delhi and later for India. While playing for India, they became friends with VVS Laxman and for years, the trio were a part of many glories.
While Sehwag and Laxman have retired from cricket, Nehra continues to play. He played an important part in India’s successful Twenty20 (T20) campaign earlier this year and was one of the mainstays for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) productive campaign in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Laxman happens to be the mentor of the side and the side benefitted from Nehra’s presence. Nehra’s ill-timed injury came as huge blow for the side, they have missed his prowess at the death overs, and his absence will be a big blow for SRH’s chances in the IPL eliminator against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Nehra had a successful knee operation in London. Laxman tweeted a picture:

Sehwag who christened the left-arm seamer as ‘Nehra ji’ was quick to tweet with a rhyme:
