VVS Laxman’s All-Time India XI against Australia

In last few months, many current and former cricketers have picked their All-Time XIs. It has become a trend as cricket fans like to know the players in the XIs of their favourite cricketers.

Way before this trend started, former Indian batsman VVS Laxman, who is known for his hunger of scoring runs against Australia, picked his All-Time India XI during India s tour of Australia earlier in January 2016. His XI was pretty unique as his team was picked only to take on Australia in their backyard under the title Pick the best Indian team since 1985 , which was ideated by Star Sports.

Laxman did a pretty good job in picking the XI and starting with openers, his side included Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly at the top of the order. Ganguly was also the captain of the team with India s current Test captain Virat Kohli at third spot followed by Mohammad Azharuddin and Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj s inclusion was surely surprising as his records didn t speak anything good about him against Australia in Australia.

Coming to wicketkeeper, it had to be MS Dhoni who is the most successful captain of India over the years. Laxman picked him in the side as a wicketkeeper-batsman at number six with Kapil Dev at number seven as an all rounder in the team.

The bowling department consisted of the likes of Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra. Out of these three bowlers, Nehra s inclusion was another surprising element in the side as he doesn t have good record in Australia. But still overall the team wears a solid, balanced look.
