Former Pakistan bowling great and the current coach of their national team, Waqar Younis is a widely respected figure in world cricket. With close to 800 international wickets, he is one of the all-time greatest fast bowlers in world cricket.

The same respected cricketer got recently trolled on the social media when Twitter users took a dig at him as he wished another great cricketer of his generation Brian Charles Lara on the occasion of Christmas. It was Lara who first tweeted:

“Merry Christmas to all! Enjoy the festive season but spare a thought and a prayer for all whose Xmas may not be a joyous occasion #weloveyou

In reply, Waqar tweeted: @BrianLara hope you and the family are well BC!

As soon as Waqar tweeted this, the Twitterati started trolling him for suggesting the use of expletives in his tweet. He actually meant “Brian Charles”, as he was referring to Lara’s first name and his father’s name. On the other hand, Twitter users thought he was abusing Lara, as ‘BC’ suggests an expletive, used frequently by India’s Test captain Virat Kohli. However, Waqar sent-in his apology and clarification to Lara through Twitter, as his another tweet read:

He also clarified that it was Lara’s nickname at home that prompted him to call the elegant left handed by the name he referred to. The entire episode was trolled on Twitter, with Twitterati taking a dig at him with their witty tweets. Here are some top tweets that sum-up the entire episode:
