Chris Gayle plunders 151 off 62 balls against Kent in NatWest T20 Blast
Chris Gayle, one of the most dangerous batsmen in contemporary cricket, played a breath-taking innings in a T20 match against Kent while featuring for Somerset in the NatWest T20 Blast on Sunday. Gayle scored an unbeaten 151 off 62 deliveries with the help of 25 fours and 15 sixes. This was his 15th T20 hundred.
Kent won the toss elected to bat first. They suffered an early blow, but DJ Bell-Drummond and SA Northeast posted a 94-run partnership to weather the early storm. Northeast anchored the Kent innings and scored a career-defining century. He smashed 114 off 58 deliveries. Eventually Kent posted an imposing 227 in their 20 overs.
When the match came down to the final over, Somerset required 17 runs off the last six deliveries. But it took two balls before Gayle got the strike to score 17 off four balls. It was a bit too much in the end and Somerset lost by three runs.
