Chris Gayle reveals why he hit hundred against England in the World T20 clash

‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle was at his entertaining best on Wednesday evening, when he set alight the 14,000 odd Mumbai crowd with his monstrous hitting enroute his unbeaten 48-ball 100. Though as a professional, it was his job to go about the chase and help his side win by scoring runs. But it was not just the professionalism that drove him to score a scintillating ton, there was another motivation for him, which he revealed after the match. ICC World T20 2016: GAYLE-STORM hits Twitter.

“The world is watching, so the universe boss got to deliver and he did today,” the 36-year-old left-hander said at the post-match ceremony. “The Gayle force got the better of England today,” he added. He further revealed he was inspired by the words of his team-mate Sulieman Benn. “Sulieman said to me I had to go out and entertain him, that gave me the spark. I just try and keep people entertained around the world. That’s my objective.”

Gayle was in an imperious form and there was little that the hapless Englishmen could do, as he punished them mercilessly. In the process, he became the first batsman to score two hundreds in World T20s. Besides, he also became the first player to hit 50 sixes in the history of tournament. With this knock, he has given a stern warning to the opposition teams and if he continues with his run scoring spree, nobody can save the other teams from the Gayle storm!
