Ajinkya Rahane has always been a consistent performer when it comes to Test cricket overseas but his contribution in the longest format at home till the Delhi Test was not noteworthy. He stuck to his guns and held on to his nerves as he came out fighting in the fourth Test at Delhi against South Africa and silenced his doubting Thomases.
Rahane fired two back-to-back centuries in both the innings and gave a testament of his abilities of excellence in home conditions. He bailed his team out of crisis in the first innings with his tenacious knock of 127 and continued his good run with an unbeaten century in the second innings (100 not out) before the Indian innings was declared for 267.
India are in a commendable position at the moment as South Africa need more 476 runs to win with just nine wickets to spare. Cricket fraternity took to the social media to praise the elegant right-handed batsman for his brilliance with the bat on a wicket where most of the batsmen have struggled to get their feet moving. We present you with the pick of the tweets.
