The third and final Test of the series between Sri Lanka and Australia has taken an interesting twist. From 26 for 5 in the first session of the day, Dhananjaya de Silva emerged as a savior for the island side in the ongoing match at Colombo.

The match began with Australian pacer Mitchell Starc and off spinner Nathan Lyon dismantling the Sri Lankan batting order and putting them on the backfoot. From there on, it was all about de Silva and his partner and vice-captain Dinesh Chandimal who stood at the crease and did not let the Australian bowlers take any further wicket.

De Silva was surely under pressure when he came to the crease but he showed an excellent example of temperament and focus. In between there were many appeals by the Australian bowlers but none convinced the on field and third umpire and de Silva completed his century. This is his maiden Test hundred, which came under such tough circumstance and on this occasion, cricket fraternity hailed this knock by the young Sri Lankan.
