Martin Crowe’s Hollywood connection

Martin Crowe is considered to be one of New Zealand’s greatest batsmen. Post retirement, he joined the commentary box and is now a renowned cricket writer as well.

Martin’s elder brother Jeff has also represented New Zealand and led the side. Both the brothers are cousins of famous Hollywood actor Russell Crowe, who is renowned for his award winning roles in films like Gladiator and Beautiful Mind. When Russell was 14 years-old, he and Martin went to Auckland Grammar School together for some time. At present, Martin is a board member of Russell’s part owned South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League Football Club. Unlike the proud Kiwi Martin, Russell who has lived majorly in Australia identifies himself more with that country.

Dave Crowe, father of Martin and Jeff, was also a former Kiwi domestic cricketer. Indeed, the Crowe family is highly talented and has provided the entertainment world legends from different verticals.
