Ranji scores three hundreds in a day!

According to a report published in The Cricketer of July 8, 1922, Ranjitsinhji made a hat-trick of centuries in a match during his Cambridge days.

He made 128 for Cassandra on the second morning of a two-day match against Saffron Walden on Parker’s Piece. He then turned up for the Basinettes another Cambridge club and scored 132 on the same day, and rounded off his day’s work with a 150 for another team against Christ’s & Emmanuel on their pitch!

Ranji was a legendary batsman. He scored 24,692 runs, at an average of 56.37, and 72 hundreds in First-Class cricket. And in Test matches, he hit 989 runs from 15 Tests at 44.95.

And this was a man who had accidentally lost his right eye in 1915 in a shooting accident!
