The man who witnessed both 10 wickets in an innings Test hauls – 43 years apart in different continents!

Richard Stokes was 10 years old when he went to watch the 1956 Ashes Test at Old Trafford with his father. What he saw that day will remain etched in his memory. He witness Jim Laker become the first man to take all 10 wickets in a Test match.

Forty three years later Anil Kumble became only the second man in 1443 Tests to take all 10 wickets in a Test innings when he achieved that feat against Pakistan at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla on February 7, 1999.

What was most incredible about the match was that Stokes, who had seen Laker take all 10 wickets in 1956, was at Kotla that historic day to witness this feat as well! Stokes, who worked in Germany, was on a business trip to New Delhi!

Stokes had given himself a unique birthday gift!
