Despite the hullabaloo, Kumar Sangakkara stays focused on the job

India are fighting hard at Colombo to draw level the series against Sri Lanka, while the latter are trying to win it. While a contest is going on at Colombo, all the attention is on Kumar Sagakkara who is playing his last international game. Sangakkara has been one of the greatest cricketers of all time and there are bound to be emotions but the man himself is focused on the job in hand as he plays for his nation for the one final time. In a column for Times of India, the southpaw wrote, “While the build-up to the game has been a little overwhelming at times, I have tried to stay as focused as possible. My management team has kept my diary completely clear from all engagements and interview requests. He thanked Dinesh Chandimal for his hurricane knock at Galle which ensured Sri Lanka the victory and also wrote that he considers it as an honour to play for his country for over 15 years. Mentioning the build-up to his retirement, Sangakkara further wrote, “It’s been an incredible week with so many messages of goodwill and kind gestures from friends, fans, colleagues, members of the media and administrators. I am glad they have enjoyed my contributions over the years and I am very thankful for their support. Despite all the attention on his retirement, Sangakkara made it clear that he isn’t putting pressure on himself and setting targets. He said that he will try hardest to help Sri Lanka win the series at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.
