Fans applaud Sarfraz Ahmed’s heroic century against England at Lord’s

After losing the first One-Day International of the series, Pakistan were once again on the back foot from the start of second match against England at Lord’s. Pakistan were three wickets down at the score of two but thanks to vice-captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, who weathered the early storm and bailed his team out of crisis.

After the fall of third wicket, Sarfraz and Babar Azam stitched a decent partnership of 64 runs, which somehow brought Pakistan back in the contest. After Babar’s wicket, Pakistan were once again in deep trouble but Sarfaraz played a sensible innings along with an experienced Shoaib Malik.

Malik was dismissed after scoring 28 but Sarfraz continued good run and was further accompanied by all-rounder Imad Wasim, who too did well and supported his partner. Meanwhile, Sarfraz went close to his second ODI hundred and he did that in style with a boundary. Later, he got out on 105, which included six boundaries and that speaks about his ability of rotating the strike. ALSO READ: Misbah-ul-Haq rekindles memories from becoming captain to taking Pakistan to No. 1 position

Interestingly, both of Sarfraz’s centuries came outside subcontinent with the first one came against Ireland in the 2015 World Cup at Adelaide, Oval. He is the first Pakistani batsman to score a hundred at Lord’s in ODIs. He is also the third wicketkeeper to have score a hundred at Lord’s. His hundred ensured Pakistan reached a fighting total of 251.

This is undoubtedly a special ton for Sarfraz as it came at the iconic Lord’s. Pakistan fans across the globe began applauding his knock on Twitter.
