Harbhajan Singh is all geared up to tie the nuptial knot with Bollywood actress Geeta Basra. He bowled well in the One-Day International (ODI) series against the touring South Africa but found himself axed from the Test squad. True, that he was India’s leading spinner for many years but now has lost his supremacy to the younger Ravichandran Ashwin. Harbhajan, who made a comeback to the Test squad earlier this year, lost his place after just playing two Tests, and is now 17 wickets behind Kapil Dev’s 434-mark. Indian cricket in the past have had the habit of treating senior players quite shabbily but despite being dopped, Harbhajan has maintained good spirits and praised the team management for explaining him the reason. In a report from PTI, Harbhajan was quoted as saying, ““The captain [Virat Kohli] told me that since South Africa will have three right-handers [Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers] in their top-order, they wanted a left-arm spinner [Ravindra Jadeja] to go with an off-spinner [Ravichandran Ashwin]. It was really nice of them to explain me the situation. About his performance in the ODI series, he said, “It was a series that I really enjoyed playing. It is always a challenge when you face a world class opposition and that’s exactly when you would need to give more than 100 percent for the team. He maybe 35 but he is still confident of making a comeback in the Test squad and playing in all the formats. He clarified that his focus is playing cricket right now and has put his honeymoon plans on hold. He added, “I am firm believer in Almighty. With his blessings, I hope that the new chapter of my life that begins tomorrow will be equally successful. There are no honeymoon plans as of now.
