ICC 2015 World Cup miss upsets Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir

Batsmen Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir on Monday expressed their discontent after not being picked for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2015 as both the players proved instrumental in India’s 2011 World cup triumph.

As reported by Cricketcountry.com, Yuvraj said, “It was disappointing at not being picked for the World Cup. It’s a decision which you can’t help.”

Yuvraj’s all-round performance helped India lift the 2011 World cup. Presently, the southpaw believes in focussing to score as many runs as possible for his state side Punjab in the domestic tournaments.

“At the moment, I am focusing on the Ranji Trophy and putting in my best efforts to make a comeback,” added Yuvraj.

On the other hand, Gambhir expressed his dejection at missing the World cup bus for India but said his hunger for runs hasn’t dried up.

“I play cricket to score runs and win matches. I am still passionate about winning matches for India, my state team Delhi or any Twenty 20 franchise,” Gambhir said.

“I am disappointed at not being part of the team for this World Cup. We are the defending champions and it is a proud feeling. I definitely would have wanted to be part of this tournament.”

As reported in Times of India, Gambhir made an appealing point about Yuvraj saying, “If Yuvraj had come to bat ahead of Dhoni in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka, he would have scored a hundred that day.“
