The final encounter for the Under-19 World Cup final between India and West Indies at Dhaka saw a dramatic collapse of the Indian batting order as they were bundled up for a mere score of in 45.1 overs. West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch which was conducive for bowling.
India got off to a horrifying start as they lost their first wicket in the very first over of the game. Alzarri Joseph steamed in and got rid of the Indian top-order with his pace and guile. India kept losing wickets at regular intervals which didnât help them achieve fruitful results. Sarfaraz Khan played with immense confidence on a pitch where wickets kept falling like nine pins. He scored a tenacious 51 but lacked support from the other end.
Ryan John also chipped in with three crucial wickets and Keemo Paul too had couple of scalps to his name. India are in deep trouble at the moment as the target seems to be a cakewalk for the West Indies. Indian bowlers need to step up and put a valiant effort to restrict the opponent from breaching the target.
They have enough ammunition to do so and have remained unbeaten in the tournament so far. They have a golden opportunity of winning the Under-19 World Cup for the record fourth time but their bowlers have a mountain to climb at Dhaka.
