Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli struck confident centuries to guide India to 462 for eight at the end of the third day of the third theest against Australia in Melbourne.
Their 262-run stand helped India reduce the huge deficit that was there on the first day, of 422 runs. After the dismissals of Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay, Rahane and Kohli showed immense resilience and pushed the Australians into submissions.
Ryan Harris was the star for Australia as he picked up 4-69 in the 25 overs he bowled. India were 462 for eight at stumps in response to Australia’s 530, trailing by 68 runs.
