Chennai Super Kings (CSK) plays Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Chidamabaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday. Both the teams are coming into this tie with a loss and would want to win to secure a berth in the play-offs.

For CSK, the opening duo of Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith have to give them a strong start. Suresh Raina hasn’t really fired like previous seasons and that’s something he will want to turnaround. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja have performed below par whereas Pawan Negi will like to capitalise on his good form.

In the bowling department, Ashish Nehra has impressed everyone but leaked a lot of runs in the last few games. Ravichandra Ashwin is back and spearheads the spin department but he will seek support from Negi and Jadeja. Dwayne Bravo’s variations in the death overs has been extremely beneficial for the side and they will look to continue cashing-in on the same.

On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane has been the best batsman in the entire tournament. Shane Watson, Steve Smith, Karun Nair and Deepak Hooda form the nucleus of the batting order. Stuart Binny has been off-colour and needs to deliver the goods.

The problem lies in the bowling area with death bowling the biggest worry. They have a leaked a lot of runs and the solutions are yet not available. They have been pretty inconsistent. Brilliant at times, while lacked the basics in rest.

At home, CSK look to be the favourites but with previous match’s setback against Mumbai Indians (MI), RR can surprise by sneaking out with two crucial points.
