IPL 2015: Delhi Daredevils beat Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets at Delhi, Stars and flops
Delhi Daredevils (DD) added more agony to Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) run in the tournament. DD beat KXIP by nine wickets at Feroz Shah Kotla.
DD won the toss and asked KXIP to bat first. KXIP got off to a disastrous start as they lost four wickets in quick succession and were 10 for 4 in the fourth over. Zaheer Khan proved his presence as he clinched two wickets in his first two overs. DD did a remarkable job to restrict KXIP for a meagre total of 118 in their 20 overs. David Miller provided some resistance and made sure KXIP got some score on the board to fight for. Barring Miller, each and every batsman floundered.
DD got off to a flying start while chasing 119. DD openers ensured they didn’t give KXIP even a slight chance to make a comeback into the game. They attacked DD bowlers with immense confidence. Shreyas Iyer and Mayank Agarwal added 106 runs for the opening partnership, both the batsman scored half-centuries. Mayank Agarwal remained unbeaten with 52 runs. DD confidence will be boosted as they chased down the target in the fourteenth over and climb up the points table and are well placed at the fourth position with four wins in their eight outings.
Turning Point: The turning point indubitably was the first four overs bowled by DD bowlers as they clinched four wickets and never let KXIP get back in to the game.
