IPL 2016: Harsha Bhogle criticises MS Dhoni’s approach
One of the most renowned commentators in cricket fraternity — Harsha Bhogle, breaks headlines once again after the controversy over his commentary issue in the ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). It is believed that Bhogle was being too critical on Indian players and that led to his ouster from the IPL’s commentary team. A true journalist that he is, nothing can stop Bhogle from speaking his mind. He criticised India’s one of the most loves cricketers, MS Dhoni for his slow batting during the match between Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday.
While chasing RCB’s total of 185, RPS first lost their opener Faf du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen got injured and Steve Smith was run out. Dhoni joined RPS opener Ajinkya Rahane at the crease and going logically, they were three down at that time. Dhoni played quite slowly as he managed to score only 41 from 38 balls, which is unexpected from a batsman who has the ability to turn the game on it’s head while chasing. It did play a role in RPS’ defeat.
Eventually, Dhoni’s slow paced knock resulted in RPS’ loss by 13 runs and this made Bhogle tweet:
Dhoni may be be amongst the greatest of cricketers but that loss will surely hurt him as this was the third consecutive match which RPS lost in the tournament.
