IPL 2016, Match 11: Delhi Daredevils beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets at Bangalore, Stars and Flops

Delhi Daredevils (DD) pulled off a thrilling victory in the 11th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Bangalore on Sunday. Quinton de Kock engineered DD’s run chase and carried his team over the line with a determined century. DD won the toss and opted to field first on a wicket which was conducive for batting. Batting first, RCB got off to a shaky start as Chris Gayle floundered with the bat and was dismissed for a duck but Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers batted beautifully to keep the scoreboard ticking. De Villiers was a delight to watch as he took on the pumped DD attack with unparalleled confidence while Kohli played with sheer elegance.

RCB looked good for a total of over 200 but it wasn’t to be as their batting stumbled in the end which ultimately cost them the game. They somehow managed a good score of 191 in their 20 overs which didn’t prove out to be sufficient to contain DD. Zaheer Khan went for a lot of runs and at a stage looked clueless as he ran out of options but the bowlers did a commendable job in the death overs.

De Kock and Shreyas Iyer had a mountain of climb in front of them as chasing 192 is never an easy task on any surface. Iyer once again failed to make an impact as his innings came to an end by a mind boggling effort from Shane Watson and David Wiese at the long on boundary.
The duo pulled of a fabulous catch which could well be the catch of the tournament. Later, Sanju Samson too wallowed as he never looked comfortable out in the middle.

Kock stuck to his guns and kept the run flowing from his end as Karun Nair joined him at four. Nair dd a good job in rotating the strike and striking those odd boundaries off a loose delivery. The ball was in DD’s court by the end of 15th over with Kock still alive at the crease. He went to score the first century of this season and it wouldn’t have come at a better time.
