Is everything fine between Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri?

The India head coach drama came to an end last week after Anil Kumble bagged the high profile job. BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman took this decision after interviewing several candidates. Former all-rounder Ravi Shastri, who was the national team director for close to 18 months was considered a favourite but lost the race to Kumble.

Shastri expressed his disappointed in several interviews and also mentioned that former Indian captain Ganguly, who was in the panel for coach selection, was not present when he was being interviewed. In a recent interview with Times of India, Shastri was asked the reason for Ganguly’s unavailability and is there an issue between the two. Shastri replied, “All I can say is that Ganguly wasn’t there when I was interviewed and you should ask what problem Ganguly has with me instead of asking me.”

The answer gives us enough hints to show that things are not right between the two.

As per the reports, it has also been learnt that the board was aware of the fact that Sourav Ganguly won’t be able to mark his presence for Shastri’s interview and he was kept in the loop though. Shastri was also quoted in a report from MumbaiMirror saying, “If he was present, he would have asked some questions. I wish he was there.” ALSO READ: Sourav Ganguly ignores commenting on Ravi Shastri
