JP Duminy elected as SACA president

South African cricketer JP Duminy, on Tuesday, was elected President of South African Cricketers’ Association (SACA).

In SACA’s annual general meeting of players in Johannesburg, the President and other members of  Players Executive Committee were elected by votes of South African teams (men and women), the six franchise teams and the 13 semi-professional provincial teams.

“I’m honoured that my fellow professional cricketers have shown their confidence in me. Our players’ association, SACA, plays an important role in South African cricket and I am glad to be asked by the players to be part of its leadership,” said Duminy as reported by BBC.

Farhaan Behardien, Omphile Ramela and Stephen Cook were all elected to be a part of the executive committee of the association.

Duminy, 30, has played 27 Tests, 129 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 58 Twenty20 Internationals. He is amongst the most experienced cricketers and is a key member of the side in the limited-overs formats.
