In wake of the Kerala floods that has ravaged most parts of the state, cricketer Sanju Samson has contributed Rs 15 Lakh to the Kerala CM Relief Fund.

The amount was handed over to CM Pinarayi Vijayan today at the Cliff House.

Sanju’s father, Viswanath Samson and brother Sally were present during the handover, as reported by Mathrubhumi Online. Sanju is currently in Vijayawada representing India A for the quadrangular series also featuring India B, South Africa A and Australia A.

Earlier, Samson, who was born in Trivandrum, had contributed Rs one lakh towards the relief fund for the district of Kuttanad.

In the past 10 days, over 150 people have lost their lives in what is one of the worst floods in the history of Kerala.

The Skymet Weather Services has predicted heavy rainfall for the next twenty-four hours in the state.

Two-thirds of the state is without power. There is an acute shortage of drinking water and a red alert has been issued in all the 14 districts of the state. The state government fears an outbreak of water-borne diseases as well.
