The reports of rift in the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) squad have come in for harsh criticism by the overseas players of KXIP, after some allegations were leveled against the Australian batsman Shaun Marsh. Earlier today, a report published in Sportskeeda had claimed that Marsh was sent back home after being involved in a dressing room brawl with a teammate, and not because of a back injury.

The report had quoted renowned daily Deccan Chronicle as the source of this news. However, hours after the report came out, fellow Australians and KXIP team-mates Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson came to the rescue of Marsh with their tweets in his support. Former captain David Miller, who was sacked midway, and South African fast bowler Kyle Abbott also joined in.

There were also reports that there are cliques in the team with Indian players on one side and the overseas players on the other. Some reports also claimed that KXIP co-owner Preity Zinta had abused coach Sanjay Bangar in the dug-out, which were denied by both the involved parties through their public statements on their official facebook pages. Whatever the truth may be, but it certainly does not augur well for Indian cricket and cricket in general.
