Look who warned Harsha Bhogle on Twitter!

Harsha Bhogle has been in the news off late as BCCI terminated his Indian Premier League (IPL) contract. While the reason for that is not clear, it has been speculated that he has not been in good terms with the Indian cricket board and have rubbed cricketers the wrong way with his criticism. Indian skipper MS Dhoni was not at his best as a wicketkeeper during the Rising Pune Supergiants’ match against Gujarat Lions at Rajkot on Thursday. He missed a stumping and gave away byes, Bhogle, who was watching the match tweeted:

To this, famous English commentator Jonathan Agnew responded:

Agnew, a former Leicestershire cricketer who has played Tests for England, is one of the most popular voices in the game. There was definitely sarcasm directed by this tweet but it also highlights the power of Indian cricketers and their dislike to criticism.

Earlier, during the India-Bangladesh ICC World T20 tie, actor Amitabh Bachchan had criticised Indian commentators of not talking of the national side enough and Dhoni retweeted that expressing his support. Though no commentator was named, going by grapevines it was directed towards Bhogle.

Bhogle through social media post clarified the role of commentators and a few days later his contract was terminated. He might not have played cricket at highest levels but cricket world will surely be poorer without Bhogle.
