A day before India’s 68th Independence Day, Indian limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni shared a post on Twitter to support the #SaluteSelfie campaign. The campaign has been started in an effort to salute the efforts of Indian soldiers and has seen cricketers like Virender Sehwag and Sreesanth participating in it too.

Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket in December last year, holds the rank an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel and recently trained as a paratrooper, where he was expected to do five parachute jumps after training for two weeks at the base.

In his interviews, Dhoni has made clear of his intentions to serve army actively post-retirement from cricket. For his salute selfie, Dhoni once again donned the olive greens and posed with a salute.

A great cricketer, a national hero and a perfect role model, Dhoni for many reasons is considered to be one of the favourite sons of the nation.
