Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan unhappy after not being included in the PSL icon players’ list

Pakistan batting legends Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq are dejected after being left out from the icon players list of Pakistan Super League (PSL). The tournament will be played in Twenty20 (T20) format. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) determined the list of icon players and left out Younis and Misbah.

Younis has also led Pakistan to their maiden World T20 title in 2009 whereas Misbah has also captained the Pakistani side with distinction and continues to do so in Test cricket. They are still active in such format and are yet to call for their retirement.

A well-informed source was quoted in a report from PTI saying, “They are not happy and indications are that they will convey to the board that if they are not given leadership positions in the PSL franchise teams they might skip it.”

Younis has already spoken about his idea of playing a leading role in the PSL. He addressed the media in Karachi saying, “I would like to have a leadership position in the PSL like say being captain or mentor besides being a player.”

On the contrary Mohammad Hafeez too wasn’t included in the iconic players list. The iconic players list includes Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi and Kevin Pietersen. It’s believed that Younis and Misbah may even hop the league if their demands are not fulfilled.
