Mohammad Azharuddin rubbishes reports of third marriage

On Sunday reports surfaced that Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin got married for the third time, however the cricketer turned politician denied the reports and tweeted, “News about my 3rd marriage is incorrect and false. Please check facts before publishing.”

Various media houses reported that Azhar married an American citizen Shannon Marie. It was also reported that they met at Azhar’s driver Jaan Mohammed’s house in Mumbai where they had gone to condole the family of the driver, who had recently died.

Azhar was also spotted with Shannon during an IPTL tie between Indian aces and Philippine Mavericks in New Delhi.

Azhar had earlier married Naureen with whom had two sons. He divorced her in 1996 and married Bollywood star Sangeeta Bijlani.

Now a politician, Azhar has represented India in 99 Tests and 334 ODIs in between 1984 and 2000, and is considered as one of India’s most successful captains. The career that began with three consecutive hundreds in three Tests career ended in 2000 when he was banned for life in his alleged involvement in match fixing which was only lifted in 2012. Next year also sees the release of his biopic, which sees Emran Hashmi in the lead role.
