MS Dhoni wants Mike Hussey to replace Duncan Fletcher as Team India’s coach

After shocking the cricket world by announcing retirement from Test cricket on Tuesday, it is reported that Mahendra Singh Dhoni has suggested to BCCI bosses that former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey is the best man to take over as the chief of Team India after Duncan Fletcher’s contract ends after ICC World Cup 2015.

According to reports in Hindustan Times, Dhoni believes that the team has failed to gel with the Zimbabwean Fletcher as they did with their former coach Gary Kirsten, under whom India won the ICC World Cup 2011.

Dhoni is expected to lead India in the World Cup next month and the squad will be named on Tuesday. Dhoni and Hussey have been team-mates at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Indian One-Day captain believes that the Australia was a committed cricketer and non-controversial like the South African Kirsten.

Hussey last played for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and having played previous six editions for CSK, the 39-year-old shares an excellent rapport with Dhoni. It remains to be seen how keen the Board will be in taking Dhoni’s suggestion.
