Rohit Sharma explores new avenues, to co-own Pro Wrestling League team

Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma manages to stay in the spotlight of media and fans whether he is on or off the field. His poor outings during the recently concluded Test series against South Africa garnered him much criticism. And now that he is done with cricket for a while, he has again managed to keep himself in the news.

It was his impending marriage on December 13 that was making news till now. But now the explosive opener has hit the headline with his new venture — co-ownership of a Pro Wrestling League (PWL) team. On Wednesday, Rohit was named the co-owner of the UP Warriors team that will feature in the six-team event to be held between December 10 and 27.

Rohit is the first cricketer and second big name after Bollywood veteran Dharmendra to co-own a team in the much-hyped league. Ecstatic about the new association, Rohit told PTI: “India has had a long and proud history with Wrestling. I am proud to come on board as one of the co-owners of the UP Warriors team at the PWL. Our team has the best line-up of wrestlers including India’s most celebrated wrestler Sushil Kumar. We look forward to making it to the top of the league for the first season of the PWL.”
