Sachin Tendulkar happy with the comeback of Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra

They have shared many happy dressing rooms together and even after their prime days are over, they continue to enjoy each other’s success. Such is the camaraderie between the players of the glorious Indian side of previous decade. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar expressed his delight on the return of Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra in India’s Twenty20 squad for the next month’s tour of Australia. Also Read: Six unexpected selections in limited-overs squads for India’s tour of Australia 2015-16

Both the veterans were on Saturday earned recalls to the squad for the three-match T20 series Down Under which also implies that they are in contention for the ICC World Twenty20 starting in March 2016.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Tendulkar said, “I am happy that both are back… They deserve it and this is the result of their hard work… I wish them and the team all the success in Australia.”

Yuvraj, who was the Player of the Tournament in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, last played in India colours in the final of ICC World T20 2014. He was severely criticised for his slow batting which was one of the factors in India’s loss. Nehra last played for India in World Cup 2011 semi-final against Pakistan and played a role in the side’s win.

Yuvraj, who was diagnosed with cancer post the World Cup, was earlier quoted as saying, “The phase in life that I went through was really terrible and it can’t be worse. But I’ve emerged stronger,”

Getting backed by someone of Tendulkar’s calibre will definitely be a huge confidence booster for the two returning veterans and now it is up to them to step out in the greens and repay the faith.
