Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar who is known to bat for social causes launched an initiative with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) with an aim to improve hygiene among children in South Asia and bring down the death toll from poor sanitation.

Tendulkar was seen promoting the “Wash in School” programme on Monday with another cricketing legend from Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan.

He demonstrated the local children at a hotel on how to use soap and water to wash their hands before having meals, which will help them in getting away from the disease. Tendulkar also re-tweeted the tweet by UNICEF Sri Lanka, where he shares an old memory of his mother.
