He posted the team from his official Facebook account with the words, “As promised, here’s my greatest ever Indian test team. Remember I had to play against them……”  Read: Now, Shane Warne’s New Zealand XI for last 25 years comes out

His India XI is as follows:

1. Virender Sehwag

2. Navjot Singh Sidhu

3. Rahul Dravid

4. Sachin Tendulkar

5. Sourav Ganguly (C)

6. Mohammad Azharuddin

7. Kapil Dev

8. MS Dhoni (played IPL against him only)

9. Anil Kumble

10. Harbajhan Singh

11. Javagal Srinath

12. VVS Laxman

Warne did put a note in the end saying this was the hardest team to select as he had played against a few legends at the end of their careers like [Dilip] Vengsarkar, Sanjay Manjreker, Ravi Shastri, Manoj Prabhakar as well as current players like Zaheer Khan. He said, “The Indian side I’ve selected is a very strong one & would be tough to play against.”

Warne however had a dilemma till the end, and failing to solve it, he announced 12 players in the team unlike his previous XIs. He wrote, “The hardest position to select for me was the number 6 spot between my great friend VVS or Azzha, depending on the conditions who would actually play at number 6 & what country the game was played in, hence I named 12 & would choose the 12th man on the day ! Look forward to your feedback.”  He signed off by promising to release a combined Ashes team and the best Sri Lankan team in the coming days.
