Shane Warne is addicted to controversies and it seems he has accepted it as a vital part of his life. Warne was one again clicked smoking in the open, this time while playing a round at golf during the Pro-Am round prior to the Irish Open at Royal County Golf Club on Wednesday.
Sportspersons are responsible role models and which is why Sachin Tendulkar has never endorsed cigarettes, alcohol or any tobacco products. Celebrities have mass following and therefore they have certain social responsibilities which may affect their personal lives. Some of them do smoke but responsibly and try and avoid the glare of the camera. Warne surely is not among them. (READ: Cricketers who were seen smoking in public)
The former Australian ace leg-spinner is one of the legends in the game and has been a role model to many. On-field he has produced some of cricketâs most glorious moments but off the field, Warneâs life has been full of controversies from testing positive for a banned drug to providing bookmakers with pitch conditions to his infidelity and endless list of sexual escapades. Warne is one of the greatest readers of the sport and a renowned pundit but even on-field his behaviour has often been far away from exemplary. His altercation with Marlon Samuels in the second edition of Big Bash League (BBL) was one of the ugliest on-field spats.
He has been in trouble with cigarettes before too. He once had a wrangle with young boys who clicked him while smoking, at a time when he had a sponsorship of a nicotine patch company in return for quitting smoking. (READ: Shane Warneâs nine sensational sexcapades)
He has the unmatched charisma and persona which drives many around the world but Warne is a poor role model in this regard. If smoking in public view for someone as big a Warne is considered ânot goodâ, then smoking on the field of play is atrocious as it can be seen in the above photograph. But thatâs Warney for you, period!
