Sharad Pawar to contest BCCI elections?

Sharad Pawar has expressed his interest in contesting the BCCI elections which is expected to be held in the near future. With ICC Chairman N Srinivasan’s chances of contesting the elections looking slim, the former BCCI chief made his candidacy public.

Last month, the Supreme Court of India stated that Srinivasan could not contest the BCCI elecetions unless he gave up his stakes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

As reported by Cricketcountry, Pawar, who is currently the President of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has now emerged as a strong candidate with Srinivasan’s chances looking bleak. With this being East Zone’s turn to nominate President, a zone where Srinivasan had a stronghold, Pawar had declined to contest the elections. However, it’s changing now. The BCCI is likely to summon a working committee meeting on February 10 to formally give notice of the AGM, which must be held on or before March 5.
