A 22-year old promising British cricketer Adrian St John died after reportedly being shot by robbers in Trinidad, a BBC UK report said. Adrian played for the Chris Gayle Academy in London and even captained the academy side.

According to the media report, Adrian was attacked after he had stopped his car to pick up two of his friends. He was shot as he drove away after they had been robbed. A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the killing.

West Indies cricketer Gayle also tweeted in this regard:

People associated with Adrian, who was one of the first members of the Chris Gayle Academy in London, remember him as a lovely lad who was full of life. Donovan Miller, programme manager for the Chris Gayle Foundation, said: “I’m really finding it hard to come to terms with it, how someone could do something like that to such a lovely person,” further adding, “He wanted me to support him to go to the Caribbean and to kind of push hard with his cricket.”
