South African cricket team served beef at the home of RSS

Consumption of beef has been at the centre of one of the biggest controversies India has witnessed of late. It triggered violent opposition across the country, with one person even losing his life over the consumption of beef.

On the other hand, the South African Cricket team that is currently on a tour to India, recently played the third Test in Nagpur and were served beef delicacies in their menu. Quite ironically, Nagpur happens to be the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the hardcore right-wing organisation that has vehemently opposed consumption of beef.

As reported by Nagpur Today, the sensational revelation of the team’s choice of beef menu was made by the Team to Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Office-bearers. According to them, the South African Team demanded beef in accordance with their fixed dietary format. The same format was handed over to the VCA by the board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The news coming out can trigger yet another controversy. The Test series between the two teams has already been a topic of debate due to the nature of the pitches. A storm over the beef consumption will be the last thing the two teams would want.
