The seventh match of Asia Cup T20 2016 was played between India and Sri Lanka at Mirpur in Dhaka. Winning the toss and bowling first, India got off to a good start with first Sri Lanka losing their first three wickets inside seven overs. Though they somehow managed to recover from the early loss and posted a total of 138 runs on board, they ended up losing the contest. India too were not off to a good start as they were two down under four overs. But not for the first time, a Virat Kohli classic guided India to another win. He was ably supported by Yuvraj Singh’s brisk cameo. India won the match by five wickets with four balls spare and once again we saw a few records being rewritten. 1. Ashish Nehra once again provided the early breakthrough for India by taking the wicket of Sri Lankan opener Dinesh Chandimal in third over of the first innings. With this wicket, Nehra has became the second highest wicket-taker from India during powerplays in T20Is. Nehra now has 13 wickets and is behind Ravichandran Ashwin, who has 15 wickets to his name.
2. Sri Lanka scored 47 runs in their first 10 overs. This is their second lowest in T20Is in first 10 overs while batting first.
3. Partnership of 43 runs between Chamara Kapugedera and Milinda Siriwardana for fifth wicket is Sri Lanka’s third highest partnership for fifth wicket against India in T20Is.
4. Siriwardana’s was caught by Suresh Raina off Ashwin. Caught Raina bowled Ashwin is now the best bowler-fielder combination in T20Is. They have effected nine dismissals so far.
5. Siriwardana’s wicket was also Ashwin’s 30th victim caught in his T20I career (excluding caught behind). With this, Ashwin has now the joint 10th most victims caught in his bowling in T20Is along with Kyle Mills.
6. Yuvraj Singh plundered three sixes in this match and with this; he has now joint fourth most sixes in his name in T20Is. He is currently standing with Martin Guptill at fourth position with 68 sixes. They are behind Shane Watson (76), Chris Gayle (87) and Brendon McCullum (91).
7. Virat Kohli smashed seven boundaries in this match and with this; he has now joint sixth most fours in his name in T20Is. He is currently standing alongside David Warner and Kumar Sangakkara at sixth position with 139 fours and five with more are – Martin Guptill (154), Mohammad Hafeez (165), Mahela Jayawardene (173), Tillakaratne Dilshan (197) and Brendon McCullum (197).
8. Kohli faced 47 balls in this match and with this; he became the first Indian batsman to have faced 1000 balls in T20Is and 13th overall.
9. Kohli received his seventh Man of the Match (MOM) award in T20Is and this makes him joint highest recipient of MOM awards from India along with Yuvraj Singh — who have also won seven MOM awards.
10. Raina scored 25 runs in this match against Sri Lanka and became the fifth highest run getter in T20Is against Sri Lanka with 237 runs.
11. Kohli scored 56 and has now become the seventh highest run getter in T20Is against Sri Lanka with 201 runs.
12. Dhoni hit one six in this match and became the first cricketer to have 200 sixes to his name as captain across all the formats of the game. Also, he need only two more sixes to become the fifth cricketer to complete 300 sixes as player across all the format.
