Virat Kohli on most of the occasion has let his willow do most of the talking but his aggression on the field has created headlines many a times. The Test skipper of India has led his team from the front and shouldered the responsibilities to perfection.
Many cricket greats and legends have spoken about his approach to the game as well as his strategies. Some have criticised him, whereas others have praised him. Australian cricket legend Steve Waugh on this occasion has uttered some precious words about Kohli and has rated him highly as a cricketer.
In a report from Mumbai Mirror, Waugh was quoted while felicitating Kohli, “I have a 16- year-old son and I have told him ‘if you need someone as your role model, I think he should be Virat Kohli’. He should aspire to play like him.”
Every responsible and caring father wishes his son to follow good footsteps and Waugh’s wish about his son to be like Kohli is a huge gratitude towards Kohli.
Waugh also hailed Kohli as a future all-time great and labelled Ajinkya Rahane too in the same bracket.
“There are would-be greats in the current Indian team as well. Virat Kohli will go down as an all-time great. I think Rahane (Ajinkya) will also get into that category,” Waugh added.
Kohli’s hard-line instincts and discourse finally helped him achieve his unpaid dues as he broke the Lanka jinx by winning the Test series in the Lankan islands by 2-1. Kohli will now face the real Test when South Africa will tour the Indian sub-continent earlier next month.
