Rarely in recent times has one seen such an outpour of sadness for any public personality in India. The entire nation plunged into collective gloom at the passing away of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, a scientist and a visionary who dreamt big for the future of the country.
Dr Kalam touched just about every Indian with his simplicity, honesty and accessibility. And in his passing away on Monday, every Indian felt that he has lost a very dear and respected family member.
Never has one seen Indian cricketers rise as one to pay glowing tributes in the passing away of a non-cricketer. But then, as mentioned earlier, Dr Kalam’s death was a personal loss to every India. From Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh to Suresh Raina among hordes of Indian cricketers took to Twitter to pay homage to one of the greatest sons of India.
