Cricketers have an interesting life off the field, they may be intimidating on the field but off it they are a totally different personality. One such instance was noted when Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir in chat show with renowned comedian Vikram Sathaye called ‘What The Duck’ revealed stories related to his bat being named after ‘Rocky Balboa, his anger on toothbrushes and complimentary passes to cricket matches.  Gambhir was quoted in a report from Deccan Chronicle Gambhir was quoted saying, “People go crazy in Delhi, I don’t know what goes wrong. They only need complimentary passes and that is just becoming a habit even if tickets are available. Even if you don’t know someone they will try and trace some kind of relation with you somewhere as you know them for passes.” READ MORE: Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Dwayne Bravo troll Kieron Pollard over his West Indies ODI selection

Interestingly, the elegant southpaw has named his favourite bat after Rocky Balboa, speaking about his bat Gambhir said, “Rocky Balboa and the whole series has been close to my heart. I have been brought up watching the Rocky Series and ‘First Blood’ series. I am obviously a big fan of Sylvester Stallone.” READ MORE: Cricket fraternity hails run-machine Virat Kohli; Aaron Finch pleads him to stop scoring

Speaking about his toothbrush and the connection with his mood, Gambhir said “My mood depends on how I treat my toothbrushes. Being a skipper is a strenuous job, and when you are going through a rough phase, obviously you start taking out your frustration, you can’t take it out on anyone, you can’t take it out on your teammates or your wife. The only person that is left is your toothbrush”.

It may come as a surprise to many but Gambhir’s wife Natasha refused to go for the ICC World Cup 2011 final, when the then boyfriend Gambhir offered her a match pass. Gambhir further said, “I asked her if she wanted a pass, she replied asking if the match was that important. She still regrets and feels that is the only thing the missed till now in her life.”

Gambhir was one of the stars of the day. His 97 and the match-winning partneship with MS Dhoni helped India win the World Cup for the second time. Gambhir at present is having a tough time in the ongoing Indian Premier League as his team now needs to win the only game left in order to qualify for the playoffs.
