Indiaâs limited-overs skipper MS Dhoniâs love and wedding story with his wife Sakhi is nothing short of a typical Bollywood flick. The couple, proud parents of baby Ziva, has had a love story which can be converted to a bestseller. That both fell in love and got married in 2010 is a known fact. But not many know about the story that preceded it. We unfold it here for you.
Dhoni and Sakshi Rawatâs fathers worked in the same company, MECON in Ranchi, and they were family friends. The couple even attended the same school DAV Shyamali in the city. But before the friendship could blossom, Sakshiâs family moved to Dehradun and the duo lost track. ALSO READ: A peek into MS Dhoni’s ‘untold’ love story.
Like a yesteryears flick, the couple reunited in Kolkata in 2007 where Sakshi was working as intern at Taj Bengal and was introduced to Dhoni by her manager Yudhajit Dutta. The two met and from here started the never ending love story.
âCaptain-coolâ, being completely smitten by his lady, took her number from Dutta. However when he tried striking a conversation and texted her, Sakshi thought someone was playing a prank! But slowly things fell in place and the duo started dating in 2008. Sakshi was even present at Dhoniâs birthday party in July 2008 and was later dropped at her relativeâs place by her man. The couple got married three days prior to Dhoniâs 29th birthday on July 4, 2010 with Dhoniâs select friends from sports, politics and Bollywood in attendance. It has been six years now since the couple got married and their little princess Ziva was born in Feb 2015. Dhoni, who was playing the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia back then, had to wait for a couple of months before he could see her, as the skipper has always kept his country ahead of his family.
He had reportedly even told Sakshi that she is the âthird most important thing in his lifeâ. He once said: âI love my country. I tell my wife she is only the third most important thing after my country and my parents, in that order.â Not only Dhoniâs persona, but his love story with Sakshi also inspires a lot to the youth of the country. As they say, âtrue love finds its own wayâ. Hopefully, the two go on the same way till eternity.
