Delhi belly has seen the better of the bravest around the world. The dictionary meaning is quite explanatory, “an upset stomach accompanied by diarrhoea, especially as suffered by visitors to India.” Over the years, many travellers, cricketers and other sportsmen have suffered Delhi belly and there was a time when cricketers avoided India tour to stay away from this. Indian food and spices can be too hot to handle for westerners but globalisation has changed things for good.

India’s rise as a cricket superpower has seen a turnaround and cricketers around the globe want to be a part of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is the highest paid cricketer in this edition of IPL and during a dinner last week, he was caught by surprise when he found a toilet roll at his dinner table. Of course, it was being used as a substitute for paper napkins.

Watson clicked a picture and tweeted:

In a tongue-in-cheek humour, Watson referred to Delhi belly. Watson has not really had a great IPL so far. His side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which is led by Virat Kohli and comprises stars like AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, are currently placed at No. 7 in the Points Table. Tonight, RCB takes on the MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants in a key clash at Bengaluru.
