Twitter reactions on Jonathan Trott’s retirement from international cricket

England cricketer Jonathan Trott announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday after England’s loss to West Indies on Sunday. Trott had a poor outing with the bat in the three-Test Wisden Trophy series between England and West Indies.

He returned to international cricket after pulling out from Ashes 2013-14 Down Under after suffering from stress related illness. In the recently concluded Test series he only managed to get 72 runs from six innings at an average of 12. The series ended in a draw and Trott’s show was pretty poor. He admitted, “This was a tough decision to make. But I don’t feel my game is at the level you need to be at to play for England.”

Trott’s retirement has left a big void to fill in England’s batting. The cricketing world and fans reacted to his retirement on the social media space.
